Sep 21, 2011 - 15:45

QALAT (PANinfo-icon): Two police officials were killed in a landmine blast and seven people arrested in connection with the attack in southern Zabul province, officials said on Wednesday.

The explosion took place in the Noorak area of the city on Tuesday evening, Gen. Fazal Ahmed Sherzad, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Police also recovered a bomb and arrested five suspects.

Police came under attack while shifting the detainees to a check-post, injuring one official and destroying their vehicle, Gen. Sherzad said, adding two other people were held in the area after sometime.

As usual, the Talibaninfo-icon claimed responsibility for the attack.
