Qalat-Mezan road reopens after a year

Qalat-Mezan road reopens after a year

Sep 29, 2011 - 20:32

QALAT (PANinfo-icon): The road between the provincial capital of Zabul province and Mezan district reopened on Thursday after one-year closure, an official said.

Most of construction work on the 40 kilometers road has completed while the rest will be completed soon, according to the official.

Militants often planted bombs on the road, forcing its closure, Deputy Governor Muhammad Jan Rasulyar told Pajhwok Afghan News. Security of the road has been assigned to the Afghan army.

All logistic supplies for the road had to be airlifted to resolve residents' problems, said Muhammad Alam, a resident of Mezan district.
