All universities be connected thru internet: Ghani

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has stressed the need for a proper mechanism to resolve problems being faced by universities, calling for all higher educational institutes to be connected through the internet.

The president, who inaugurated the 11th conference of information technology at the Ministry of Higher Educationinfo-icon (MoHE) on Tuesday evening, said connecting educational centers with the fiber optic project would pave the ground for research and development of the higher education sector and would improve teachers’ awareness.

The Afghanistaninfo-icon higher education sector should be connected to educational institutes of developed countries through the internet so that Afghan students could benefit from progress the developed countries had made in the field, he said.

Ghani confirmed problems in the educational system of universities in Afghanistan and said they could be resolved through a proper mechanism.

He called the conference as “important” and asked the MoHE to share all suggestions and views presented at the meeting with the Presidential Palace.

German Ambassador Markus Potzel, who attended the conference, said his country was supporting the MoHE in implementing its programs.
