Afghan forces pledged support in various provinces

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Hundreds of people, including religious scholars, on Thursday declared their support for the Afghan security and defence forces in different provinces of the country.

In southeastern Khost province, Governor Hukam Khan Habibi addressed a gathering held in support of the Afghan forces. He called peace the need of every Afghan. “But there is no need for peace which comes at the expense of bloodshed.”

A tribal elder, Mohammad Tanai, told the gathering that they supported Afghan forces and condemned Tuesday’s car bombing in Kabul and offered condolences to the victims’ families.

At least 64 people were killed and 347 wounded in the car bomb attack on the VIP protection unit in the 16th police district of the capital.

Religious scholar Maulviinfo-icon Mohammad Arif said they were ready to support Afghan forces and defend the soil at the cost of their lives.

In northern Samangan province, hundreds of people strongly denounced the suicide attack in Kabul and declared their support for the Afghan national forces.

Ulemainfo-icon Council member in Samangan, Maulvi Abdul Hadi, told a gathering that the killing of Muslims was prohibited in Islam that even called the murder of a human as equal to murdering the entire humanity.

In eastern Nangarhar province, hundreds of religious scholars and tribal elders voiced their support for Afghan security and defence forces in Ghanikhel district.

“Send your sons to join Afghan security forces because it is our pride and duty to defend our country,” Hajjinfo-icon and Religious Affairs director for Nangarhar, Maulvi Zahir Haqqani, told the gathering. He said people who called as legal the war against Afghan forces were agents of outsiders.

Likewise, hundreds of religious scholars, elders and youth participated in a gathering held in support of Afghan security forces in southeastern Paktia province.

Paktia Governor Nasratullah Arsal asked Talibaninfo-icon to shun violence and avoid forcing Afghan forces to kill them.

He said the government’s efforts at peace should not be considered as weakness, but kindness of the government that invited them to peace talks.

Borders and Tribal Affairs Minister Gulab Mangal praised the bravery of Afghan forces and called on the people to support them.

“The current year will be full of challenges,” he said, hoping the Afghan government would successfully manage the situation.
