Child among 5 dead in Parwan firefight

CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Five people, including a child, were killed in a clash between illegal armed groups in the Laghmani locality of central Parwan province.

Mohammad Zaman Mamozai, provincial police head, told Pajhwok News Agency the clasherupted on Tuesday evening, when one armed groupwas ambushed by another.

Members of the group came under attack on their way home from Charikar, the provincial capital.Four people from one side and one from the other were killed in the clash.

Mamozai did not give information about the identity of the groups but said there were long-running hostilities between the sides. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Another security source, who wanted to go unnamed, said at least four people were also wounded. The gunmen later fled the area.

Meanwhile, head of Parwan hospital Dr. Mohammad QasemSangin,confirmed three dead bodies and one wounded child were brought to hospital last night. The child later died of his wounds.
