Eng. Mohammad Din Khwahani, head of the Badakhshan Literature and Cultural Association, told Pajhwok Afghan News printing of the books cost 600,000 afghanis provided by Governor Ahmad Faisal Bekzad.

The books are: Samand Shear Iqbal, Poems of Abdul Wasil Latifi, Nawa-i-Ashna by Mir Ahmad Shah Zegham, Asian-i-Moqaddas by Khajista Ilham, History of Journalism by Ikram Seddiq Lalzad and some others by Badakhshan poets and authors.

Khwahani said each book was printed in 1,000 copies. Work on nine other books, mostly poetry collections, is currently underway, he added.

Abdul Wasil Latifi, editor-in-chief of Jarida-i-Badakhshan and writer of Samand Shear Iqbal, a collection of poems, said the Literature and Cultural Association was a new body supporting the publication of cultural and literary works in Badakhshan.
