SHARAN (Pajhwok): Dozens of religious scholars, including legal experts and Hadithinfo-icon researchers, have graduated from a religious school in Sharan, the capital of southeastern Paktika province.

The graduated were awarded certificates at a ceremony at Misbahul Uloom Madrassainfo-icon in Mohammadkhel area on the outskirts of Sharan late on Thursday.

Scholars from Kabulinfo-icon, Kandahar, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar, Maidan Wardak and Paktika participated in the event, which was attended by thousands of people.

Speakers urged the government and people to pay heed to the growth and expansion of seminaries.

Mohammad Amin Mujaddedi, a religious scholar from Kabul, called the large number of participants in the ceremony an indication of people’s love of the religion and religious schools.

About the ongoing war, he said: “Outsiders have been in control of our destiny over the years. Each one of them has been stoking the flames of war in their petty personal interest…”

“Outsiders come here to mediate between the president and the chief executive. Governance is based on outsiders’ whims and caprices. Subsequently, the government’s credibility has declined,” he claimed.

Another scholar from Sharan, Pir Syed Sabir Shah Sahibzada, complained seminaries had suffered a lot of damage in recent years. Their administrators were tortured on one pretext or another, he alleged.

Sheikh Abdul Manan, hailing from Orgun district, said Islam set store by peace, affection and brotherhood. “The current situation in our country has also harmed madaris, with many students killed under different pretexts…”

Misbahul Uloom founder Nazar Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News 22 Islamic legal experts, 25 Hadith specialists and four memorizers of the Holy Quraninfo-icon were awarded degrees at the ceremony.
