KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Fresh from their success in the inaugural edition of Desert T20 Challenge Cup, the Afghans have embarked on preparations for the upcoming one-day international (ODI) series against Zimbabwe.

The training camp began in the United Arab Emirates on Monday, days after the national side won the major T20 title, Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News on Tuesday.

He said 24 players, attending the camp, would play two practice matches. Eighteen cricketers were already in the UAE as part of the contingent for the tournament, Hotak added.

Eight more players -- Sharafuddin Ashraf, Javed Ahmadi, Nasir Jamal, Afsar Zazai, Hashmatullah Shaheedi, Ihsan Jannat, Yamin Ahmadzai and Rahmat Shah Zurmati flew into the UAE to join the camp.

The Afghans, who never lost a series to Zimbabwe since 2015, are scheduled to arrive in Harare on February 13 before the first game on February 16.

The remaining four matches will be played on Feb 19, 21, 24 and 26 in Harare.
