Engineering student shot dead, brother hurt in Farah

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A 26-year-old man was killed and his brother wounded by unknown gunmen in western Farah province, officials said on Monday.

Deputy Governor Mohammad Younus Rasooli told Pajhwok Afghan News the shooting occurred at around 7am when the two brothers were travelling from Baba Pul area to Farah City, the provincial capital.

He said two unidentified motorcyclists fired at the brothers in the vehicle and fled the area. Ramin, 26, was killed and Abdul Rahim, 24, wounded.

Ramin was an engineering faculty student in a Turkish university and he had come to Farah for spending vacation with his family.

Rasooli said, the victims’ father was a National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) member in the province, and police had launched an investigation into the incident.

Dr. Abdul Hakeem Rasooli, head of the state-run hospital, confirmed receiving the body of a man shot in face and chest. The injured youth is said to be in stable condition.

Abdul Rahim, the wounded man, said two unknown gunmen opened fire on them and killed his brother Ramin. He added one of the attackers wore burqainfo-icon (veil). He asked the authorities to bring the attackers to justice.
