KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): An Afghan citizen, arrested with heroin, has been hospitalised in the Uttar Pradesh state of India, a media report says.

Charged with smuggling heroin Abdul Ali was admitted to Metro Hospitals and Heart Institute in Noida on February 28, Press Trust of India reported.

The 55-year-old was hospitalised after he complained of pain in the abdomen. Following an operation on March 2, plastic packets containing white powder were removed from his abdomen.

Later, the packets were sent for tests, which confirmed the white powder was heroin swallowed by the man. Investigators found two mobile numbers Ali had used were registered in Delhi.

However, police found that both addresses were fake. Ali was arrested after recovery from the surgery.
