No final decision yet on Moscow meeting: MoFA

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Tuesday said the government had not yet taken a final decision whether to attend the Moscow meeting or not, but discussions on the matter were underway.

Ahmad Shekib Mustaghni, MoFA spokesman, talking about the acting foreign minister’s recent trip to the US, said the government was assessing the two previous meetings held Moscow about the peace process in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

He said discussions about whether Afghanistan should send its delegation to Moscow to attend the event.

Moscow is expected to host a meeting on April 14 to seek ways for establishing peace in Afghanistan.

Representatives from 12 countries, including the US, have been invited to the meeting. However, a US official had said no one from Washington would participate in the meeting.

The MoFA spokesman called acting foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani’s trip to the US as productive.

He said the America’s new administration had promised continued cooperation with Afghanistan.

Mustaghni said the United Nations (UN) also supported the Afghan government’s efforts at bringing peace and stability to the war-torn country.

The MoFA also said any type of constructions on the Durand Lineinfo-icon was unacceptable to the Afghan people.

He said no facilities had been constructed on the Durand Line according to security organs’ information.

Meanwhile, Meshrano Jirgainfo-icon member from central Maidan Wardak province Eng. Hasibullah Kalimzai, told today’s upper house session that Pakistaninfo-icon had no right to fence on the Durand Line.

He asked the government to take action about Pakistan’s arbitrary installation of border fence.
