US, Pakistani envoys confer on Afghan stability

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon says it remains willing to work with the Trump administration to support efforts for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistaninfo-icon and stability in the region.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi held out the assurance at a meeting with the US acting special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (A/SRAP).

At Tuesday’s meeting with Laurel Miller in Islamabad, the diplomat also elaborated on Pakistan’s policies and initiatives to create a better security environmentinfo-icon.

Successful counter-terrorism operations under the National Action Plan represented the national resolve to fight terrorism without discrimination, Fatemi said in a statement from the Foreign Office.

He voiced Pakistan’s concern over the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and readiness to work with the US to support efforts for peace in the neighbouring country.

Fatemi noted US National Security Advisor HR McMaster’s visit provided a good opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their commitment to a meaningful dialogue on exploring ways to promote stability in the region.
