Saudi Arabia donates 32 ambulances to Afghanistan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia has handed over 32 ambulances worth $1 million to the Ministry of Public healthinfo-icon.

Public Health Minister Ferozuddin Feroz at the handover ceremony said the vehicles would be dispatched in areas of insecurity in Helmand, Badakhshan, Kunar, Parwan, Bamyan, Logar, Paktia, Herat, Takhar, Ghazni, Laghman, Zabul Kapisa, Panjsher and Kabul provinces.

The Saudi government last year signed an accord of $5million assistance with the government of Afghanistaninfo-icon. The assistance of ambulances, training of midwives, construction of a hospital, school in Nangarhar was part the aid package.

Meshari Alharbi, deputy ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Kabul, pledged his country’s continued assistance to Afghanistan. He said Afghanistan was Saudi strategic partner and Riyadh assistance to Kabul happening since 2002.

Farida Hameed, a lawmaker from Nimroz province, complained against the lack of health facilities in the province. She said Nimroz was a populated province but the volume of health facilities not satisfactory.
