Dozens of timber shops gutted in Kunar blaze

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A fire inflicted heavy financial losses on people in the Manogi district of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Wednesday.

Governor’s spokesman, Abdul Ghani Mosmim, told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire erupted in Kandagal Bazaar of the district at noon due to unknown reasons.

The fire brigade team had reached the area and had brought the blaze in control to some extent, he said, adding people suffered heavy financial losses as a result, but provided no specific figures.

A resident of Kandagal area, Khan Haji, said dozens of shops were gutted in the blaze that reduced to ashes timber wood worth millions of afghanis. He asked the government to help the affected people.
