LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Eleven people, including security personnel, have been released from Taliban captivity in the Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.

General Command of Police Special Unit (GCPSU) forces stormed a Talibaninfo-icon jail in Naqalabad area late on Saturday and freed the captives, said a statement from the ministry.

Six security personnel and five civilians were freed as a result of the raid, the ministry said. The Taliban fled the area before the operation and hence no clash.

Police chief Maj. Gen. Aqa Noor Kentoz confirmed the release of captives, saying GCPSU personnel came from Kabulinfo-icon and raided the Taliban jail. Kentoz was unaware of details.
