Kabul, Tashkent vow enhanced economic ties

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday said homework had been done on cooperation between his country and Afghanistaninfo-icon at different levels.

Mirziyoyev, who met President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Astana, called for establishing a joint economic commission to explore ways for increased cooperation.

A statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said both the leaders conferred on regional issues and bilateral ties besides the war against terrorism.

The Uzbek leader also congratulated President Ghani on holding the maiden session of the Kabul Process, saying the session had been successful.

Later, President Ghani said terrorism threatened the entire region and that Uzbekistan cooperation with the Kabul Process initiative was beneficial.
