11 Taliban killed, 5 policemen hurt in Paktika clash
SHARAN (Pajhwok): Eleven Taliban insurgents have been killed and five policemen injured during a clash in the Barmal district of southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.
Acting Police Chief Dadullah Khan Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban attacked a police convoy on Friday night in the Tangi locality.
He said the police personnel captured two vehicles and as many motorcycles belonging to the Taliban during the clash.
Javed, the resident of Sarobi district, said dead and injured individuals of Tangi clash had been delivered to a clinic in Sarobai district. He said among the dead were two policemen; but he declined to give more information.
The Taliban confirmed Paktika clash. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said 11 policemen have been killed, five arrested, and five military tanks destroyed in the overnight clash.
Mujahid did not provide details about the Taliban casualties.
