3 killed as Daesh, Taliban clash in Jawzjan

Aug 10, 2017 - 20:54

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A Daesh or self-styled Islamic State (IS) key leader and two Talibaninfo-icon insurgents have been killed after the two groups battled in northwestern Jawzjan province, an official said on Thursday.

Col. Abdul Hafeez Khashi, deputy provincial police chief, said a clash erupted between rival Daesh and Taliban insurgent groups in Jinjak village of Qush Tapa district of the province today afternoon. Three individuals were killed as a result of the conflict, he added.

Ansar, an IS group leader, was among the dead, Khashi said, adding two Taliban rebels were also eliminated during the clash, which had ended. He said the factions might re-engage in gun-battle.

He said Daesh militants had cordoned off the area where Ansar’s corpse was left behind.

Khashi said the exchange of fires between the rival militants group had worried people; but the clash ended in short time and both the sides were preparing to restart the fight again.

There has been so for no word from the militant groups in this regard.
