15 Taliban killed, scores injured in Paktika offensive

SHARANA (Pajhwok): At least 15 militants have been killed, including some foreigners, during an Afghan forces’ operation entering a second day on Friday in the Gomal district of southeastern Paktika province, an official said.

Scores of militants were also wounded during the two days of the ongoing operation, Afghan National Army’s sixth battalion commander in Paktika, Col. Mohammad Ayub, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the dead militants including some Pakistanis and others. The joint Afghan forces were trying to reach the district centre today (Friday) but their advance had been slow due to landmines on the roads.

Border police commander in Paktika Raz Mohammad said several areas had so far been cleared of militants as a result of the operation, which he said was moving fast.

The Talibaninfo-icon have said nothing about the operation in Gomal district, but they had a day claimed killing four ANA soldiers, including an officer, in a roadside bomb attack in Khoshamand district.
