Afghan war: 254 civilians killed, 366 wounded in August

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): As many as 254 civilians have been killed and 366 others wounded in the Afghanistaninfo-icon conflict last month, the Civilian Protection Advocacy Group (CPAG) said on Tuesday.

A statement from the CPAG received by Pajhwok Afghan News said civilian casualties remained high in August as well.

The group said 254 civilians had been killed and 366 others wounded during the conflict in Afghanistan in August.

Most of the casualties happened in Kabul, Herat, Helmand and Nangarhar provinces, the statement added.

CPAG said 71 people suffered casualties in foreign forces air strikes in Nangarhar, Herat and Logar provinces in August.

Civilian casualties mostly resulted from car, suicide bomb attacks, air strikes, targeted killings, missile attacks, landmines and armed clashes, it said.

The group urged foreign forces, Afghan forces, Talibaninfo-icon and other militant groups to protect civilians’ lives during the conflict.

The group comprised of many civil societyinfo-icon institutes said it believed no side to the Afghan conflict observed international rules.
