MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A disabled man shot dead a foreign lady doctor with the Red Cross in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, on Monday.

Police spokesman Sher Jan Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place at around 10:00 am.

He said a handicapped man entered Red Cross office with a pistol, opened fire at the doctor and killed her. The attacker was detained by police. He is being investigated.

Another source identified the doctor as a Spanish citizen. But he alleged that she was attacked by the security guard of the office.
