Khalili, Mohaqiq stress transparent conduct of Wolesi Jirga election
KABUL (Pajhwok): Some politicians on Sunday demanded the next year Wolesi Jirga
and district council elections to be free, fair and transparent.
Mohammad Karim Khalili, former vice president and incumbent head of the High Peace Council (HPC), while address a gathering there to commemorate the 10th Muharramul Haram stressed over transparent conduct of future election in the country.
He said: “We want the next election to be fair and free, we want all political parties, internal and external watchdogs to strictly monitor the polling process. We hope the Wolesi Jirga election be conducted in transparent manner so that way could paved for presidential election.”
Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq said transparent conduct of election was one of the major demands of people asking for public satisfaction from the fair conduct of election.
“Transparency of election starts from nomination of commissioners, secretary election commission, voters’ registration and identification of election sites,” he said.
Mohaqiq asked the government to provide facility for political parties so they would be able to monitor the activities of election commissions and the election bodies of the country should be able to get public trust in the entire process of election.
“Unfortunately, in the past we were unable to conduct fair election. Until there is no free election political stability could not be achieved. Though election every tribe, group and party could raise their vice and express their problems,” he noted.
He asked the government to take effective measure for the free and fair conduct of election in the country.
